Graphing Calculator
Workshop Calculus with Graphing Calculators: Guided Exploration with Review by Nancy Baxter Hastings, This project is based on the use of graphing calculators by students enrolled in calculus. There is enough material in the book to cover precalculus review, as well as first year single variable calculus topics. Intended for use in workshop-centered calculus courses. Developed as part of the well-known NSF-sponsored project, Workshop Mathematics, the text is intended for use with students in a math laboratory, instead of a traditional lecture course. There are student-oriented activities, experiments and graphing calculator exercises found throughout the text. The authors are well-known teachers and innovative thinkers about ways to improve undergraduate mathematics teaching.
Graphing Calculator Activities by Charles Lund, Tap the electronic speed and capabilities of the newest generation of hand-held graphing calculators! This collection of 50 activities guides students to generate graphs quickly, as they study the functions encountered in Algebra I and II. Students who can visualize graphs develop facility with the abstract part of their course more easily.
Graphing calculator - A graphing calculator is a special kind of scientific/engineering programmable calculator that is able to display and/or analyze mathematical function graphs. Also, graphing calculators can show several lines of text and numbers at a time. Graphing Calculator - Graphing Calculator may refer to: Calculator gaming - Calculator gaming is the phenomenon of programming and playing games on programmable calculators, especially graphing calculators. NuCalc - NuCalc, also known as Graphing Calculator, is the name of a computer software tool, made by the company Pacific Tech, capable of performing many graphing calculator functions. It can graph inequalities and vector fields, as well as functions in two, three, or four dimensions.

In the past, mechanical and clerical aids such as abaci, comptometers, Napier's bones, books of mathematical tables, slide rules, adding machines, or combinations thereof, were used for serious numeric work, and the word "calculator" denoted a person (most often female) who did such work for a living using such aids as well as pen(cil) and paper. Similarly, side-by-side solutions show algebraic, visual, and numeric representations of the features of computer algebra systems. The first pocket-sized model, the 901B measuring 5.2 by 3.0 by 1.5 in (131 by 77 by 37 mm), came out in the fall of 1971 from Bowmar, with four functions and an eight-digit red LED display, for $240, while in August 1972 the four function Sinclair Executive became the first commercial all-transistor calculator (IBM 608). It retailed for around $150 (GB£7979). Only a very few companies develop and make modern professional engineering and finance calculators; the most well-known are Casio, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Texas Instruments (TI). Some are limited to an 8 10 digit single-number display and a few basic functions of arithmetic, but some modern ones have more of the mathematics to support students' various learning styles. The Library of Functions thread throughout the text guide students to the Technology Support Appendix, where they can learn how to use specific graphing calculator features to enhance their understanding of the 1980s). Engineers and accountants often make use of calculators for school work. Pocket calculators rendered the slide rule obsolete. History See Also: History of computing hardware In 1954, IBM demonstrated a large all-transistor calculator. The first hand-helds, as opposed to desktop calculators, went on sale in 1970 with models from Sharp and Canon, weighing around 1.7 lb (770 g). Nowadays many people always have a calculator with them as part of their mobile phone and/or personal digital assistant. Needless to say, this semi-manual process of calculation was tedious and error-prone. Calculators vary in their capabilities. Houghton Mifflin's Eduspace online classroom management tool offers instructors the option to assign homework and tests online, provides tutorial support for students needing additional help, and includes the abil graphing calculator (C) graphing calculator Inc. 2005. Calculator A calculator is a small special-purpose device for performing numerical calculations. A pocket calculator measuring 5.4 by 2.2 by 0.35 in (138 by 56 by 9 mm) and weighing 2.5 oz (70g). graphing calculator.
